FAQ's

Q: How long do I need to wait before I drive on my driveway?

A: Depending on the weather and the temperature outside, you should wait 2-4 days. Although you are able to drive on your driveway, your new asphalt will not be completely cured for 6-12 months after installation.

Q: How often should I have my driveway sealed?

A: Gator Paving recommends waiting for your asphalt to completely cure before sealing your driveway for the first time. After the initial sealing, we recommend sealing the driveway every two years. We recommend a water based coal tar sealer. Some types of sealer may actually damage your driveway. If you are unsure of the type to use please give our office a call.

Q: What are some things I can do to protect my driveway?

A: Do not expose your driveway to excessive loads. Concrete trucks, dump trucks and large garbage trucks may damage your driveway especially if they back over the edge. Avoid motorcycle kick stands, lawn chairs, trailer jacks and other sharp objects that may be supporting a heavy load. Landscape up to the edges of your driveway with topsoil. This will not only enhance the appearance of your drive, but will protect the edges of your driveway from getting damaged. Avoid spilling gas or oil on your driveway. While your driveway is still in its curing stages, try not to park in the same spot every time. Check your lawn for Bermuda grass as this type of grass growing close to the edges of the driveway will creep under the drive and pop up in undesirable places.
